Cathryn Cariad hand-makes delicious luxury chocolates from her Victorian farmhouse in the heart of Snowdonia, overlooking the beautiful Moelwyn mountains and the world famous Ffestniog railway.
After attending a renowned training school for chocolatiers Cathryn Cariad decided to make and sell chocolates for a living - but she determined, from the outset, that her chocolates would be different - produced using only the very best ingredients - delicious smooth and silky chocolate and top quality fruits, nuts and spices.
Great emphasis is placed on the chocolates being handmade and authentic and that, where possible, ingredients are sourced locally - including fresh Welsh Dragon butter, milk and cream from the award winning Caernarfon Dairies, delicious multi-award winning Anglesey Sea-Salt, Welsh Brew Tea, 'dragon roasted' Welsh Coffee, Welsh grown chillies, elderflowers, blackberries and sloes and, of course, Welsh alcohol (including Rampart Ale from the Conwy Brewery, Captain Morgan Rum, Penderyn Whisky and Merlyn whisky/cream liqueur, Brecon Gin, home-made Blackberry Brandy, Sloe Gin and her own 'secret recipe' Coffee/Cocoa liqueur).
All of the chocolates and confectionary are produced in small batches to ensure attention to detail and finest quality; equal care is paid to packaging and presentation.
In the five years since starting her business Cathryn Cariad has collected more than 20 Great Taste Awards, a True Taste of Wales award and an International Academy of Chocolate award for her chocolate bars, truffles and fudge.
Cathryn Cariad Chocolates are sold online, via a few local Farmers Markets and through a handful of carefully selected delicatessens and gift shops in the local area
